From: klaas de waal <klaas.de.waal@gmail.com> Separate tuning table for DVB-C solves tuning problem at 388MHz TechnoTrend C-1501 DVB-C card does not lock on 388MHz. I assume that existing frequency table is valid for DVB-T. This is suggested by the name of the table: tda827xa_dvbt. Added a table for DVB-C with the name tda827xa_dvbc. Added runtime selection of the DVB-C table when the tuner is type FE_QAM. This should leave the behaviour of this driver with with DVB_T tuners unchanged. This modification is in file tda827x.c The tda827x.c gives the following warning message when debug=1: tda827x: tda827x_config not defined, cannot set LNA gain! I've recently experienced the following fairly consistent kernel oops on startup in grundig_29504_401_tuner_set_params from budget.c. As you might expect, following this failure, the card doesn't work. I'm not a kernel developer, nevertheless I seem to have managed to track this down to a non-existent initialisation of budget->dvb_frontend->tuner_priv. The attached patch fixes the problem for me (and I've managed to tune the card successfully as a result), but I don't know of anyone else using the driver so I can't test it on other people. From: Mauro Carvalho Chehab <mchehab@infradead.org> Since: 1) FW_LOADER is defined as: config FW_LOADER tristate "Userspace firmware loading support" depends on HOTPLUG 2) several V4L/DVB driver just selects it; 3) select is not smart enough to auto-select HOTPLUG, if select FW_LOADER. So, All drivers that select FW_LOADER should also depend on HOTPLUG. An easier solution (for the end-user perspective) would be to "select HOTPLUG". However, live is not simple.
