2008-08-20link tuner before saa7134Mauro Carvalho Chehab
From: Simon Arlott <simon@fire.lp0.eu> If saa7134_init is run before v4l2_i2c_drv_init (tuner), then saa7134_board_init2 will try to set the tuner type for devices that don't exist yet. This moves tuner to before all of the device-specific drivers so that it's loaded early enough on boot. 2008-08-16tuner-3036: remove driverHans Verkuil
From: Hans Verkuil <hverkuil@xs4all.nl> This driver is for VERY old i2c-over-parallel port teletext receiver boxes. Rather then spending effort on converting this driver to V4L2, and since it is extremely unlikely that anyone still uses one of these devices, it was decided to drop it (after discussing this as well with the original author, Phil Blundell). 2008-08-16dpc7146: remove dpc7146 demonstration board driverHans Verkuil
From: Hans Verkuil <hverkuil@xs4all.nl> Old driver for the dpc7146 demonstration board that is no longer relevant. The last time this was tested on actual hardware was probably around 2002. Since this is a driver for a demonstration board the decision was made (after discussing this with the original author, Michael Hunold) to remove it rather than spending a lot of effort continually updating this driver to stay in sync with the latest internal V4L2 or I2C API. 2008-07-20videodev: split off the ioctl handling into v4l2-ioctl.cHans Verkuil
From: Hans Verkuil <hverkuil@xs4all.nl> videodev.c became top-heavy so all the ioctl processing has been split off into v4l2-ioctl.c. This means videodev.c is back to its original purpose: creating and registering v4l devices. Since videodev.c and v4l2-ioctl.c should still remain one module (as least for now) I also had to rename videodev.c to v4l2-dev.c to prevent a circular dependency when building a videodev.ko module. This is not a bad thing, since the source and header now have the same name. And the v4l2- prefix is useful to see which sources are generic v4l2 support code. 2008-07-16videobuf: Add physically contiguous queue code V3Magnus Damm
This is V3 of the physically contiguous videobuf queues patch. Useful for hardware such as the SuperH Mobile CEU which doesn't support scatter gatter bus mastering. Since it may be difficult to allocate large chunks of physically contiguous memory after some uptime due to fragmentation, this code allocates memory using dma_alloc_coherent(). Architectures supporting dma_declare_coherent_memory() can easily avoid fragmentation issues by using dma_declare_coherent_memory() to force dma_alloc_coherent() to allocate from a certain pre-allocated memory area. Move tuners to common/tuners There were several issues in the past, caused by the hybrid tuner design, since now, the same tuner can be used by drivers/media/dvb and drivers/media/video. This patch moves those common tuners into a common dir. It also moves saa7146 driver into drivers/media/video, where other hybrid drivers are placed. 2008-02-05 soc_camera V4L2 driver for directly-connected SoC-based camerasMauro Carvalho Chehab
From: Guennadi Liakhovetski <g.liakhovetski@pengutronix.de> This driver provides an interface between platform-specific camera busses and camera devices. It should be used if the camera is connected not over a "proper" bus like PCI or USB, but over a special bus, like, for example, the Quick Capture interface on PXA270 SoCs. 2008-01-27tuner: build tuner-types independently of tuner-coreMichael Krufky
From: Michael Krufky <mkrufky@linuxtv.org> tuner-types is needed for tuner-simple, and does not need to be bound to tuner-core. Any caller of tuner-simple, including tuner-core, needs to pass a structure from tuner-types into tuner-simple at attach-time. Export the two needed symbols from tuner-types for now, so that card-level drivers can attach tuner-simple for hybrid dvb_frontend devices. 2007-07-22ivtv, cx25840: postpone fw load until first use.Hans Verkuil
From: Hans Verkuil <hverkuil@xs4all.nl> The firmware is now loaded when the driver is actually used for the first time. This allows the driver to be compiled in-kernel instead of as a module. Signed-off-by: Hans Verkuil <hverkuil@xs4all.nl>
2007-07-18TCM825x: Add driver.Mauro Carvalho Chehab
From: Sakari Ailus <sakari.ailus@nokia.com> Add a driver for Toshiba TCM825x VGA camera sensor. This sensor is used e.g. in Nokia N800 internet tablet. This driver uses the new V4L2 internal ioctl interface. Signed-off-by: Sakari Ailus <sakari.ailus@nokia.com> Signed-off-by: Mauro Carvalho Chehab <mchehab@infradead.org>
2007-07-18V4L: Add internal ioctl-like interface.Mauro Carvalho Chehab
From: Sakari Ailus <sakari.ailus@nokia.com> This patch adds an internal ioctl-like interface which can be used in situations where a single Video4Linux device is implemented by multiple device drivers. One master device controls one or more slave devices. The slaves provide Video4Linux ioctl-like interface for the use of the master. Only a handful of ioctls are implemented at the moment. More can (and should) be added as more functionality is required. Signed-off-by: Sakari Ailus <sakari.ailus@nokia.com> Signed-off-by: Mauro Carvalho Chehab <mchehab@infradead.org>
2007-07-01TUNER_TEA5761 kconfig fixesMichael Krufky
From: Adrian Bunk <bunk@stusta.de> The following doesn't make much sense: drivers/media/video/Kconfig: ... config TUNER_TEA5761 tristate "TEA 5761 radio tuner (EXPERIMENTAL)" ... drivers/media/video/Makefile: ... ifneq ($(CONFIG_TUNER_TEA5761),) tuner-objs += tea5761.o endif ... With this setup, TUNER_TEA5761=m is equivalent to TUNER_TEA5761=y. This patch therefore changes TUNER_TEA5761 to a bool. The missing dependency on EXPERIMENTAL the prompt text indicates also gets added by this patch. Additionally, the Makefile entry can now be written in a more compact way. From: Mauro Carvalho Chehab <mchehab@infradead.org> Potentially, all board types with I2C and IR support can use an i2c based IR. Currently, the driver is selected only if bt848 or saa7134 boards are selected. Signed-off-by: Mauro Carvalho Chehab <mchehab@infradead.org>

2007-03-07Allow using tea5761 radio device on tuner-coreMauro Carvalho Chehab
From: Mauro Carvalho Chehab <mchehab@infradead.org> tea5761 is a driver wrote back on 2005, to support Philips tea5671 radio, meanting to be used on some devices that would be lauched with those chips. Recently, some people seems to be interested on having support for those chips at Linux Kernel. Let's enable compilation of this driver and ask they to test if this works fine.
