-- Removed m4/optimizations.m4, and along with it, AC_OPTIMIZATIONS.
-- Stripped down, cleaned up, and merged the former together with other compiler
characteristic checks.
-- Do not set any optimization flags into CFLAGS. Update all Makefile.am's with
proper AM_CFLAGS, AM_CPPFLAGS, AM_LDFLAGS, etc. to set up optimization flags,
usually from DEFAULT_OCFLAGS.
-- Start cleaning up CFLAGS/CPPFLAGS stuff in Makefile.am's all over the place.
-- Correct a number of places where CFLAGS itself was being mangled in
Makefile to on-the-fly adjust optimizations to work around compiler bugs.
This stuff is now done correctly.
-- The run of automake from autogen.sh is now clean of warnings.
-- Cleaned out some (now) dead macros from m4/_xine.m4
-- Mac OS X intel builds out-of-the-box now -- dropped optimization on
post/deinterlace/plugins/kdetv-greedyh to O1_CFLAGS.
-- OBJCFLAGS is now getting set correctly everywhere that it needs to be
-- Various other miscellaneous cleanups all over

Two of the modified files are headers, but each contains definitions as well as
declarations and is only ever used once.

Together with this, define a xinepost_LTLIBRARIES class that is used
to install the post-plugins in the correct directory.
Also add the rule to remove them.

using hacksaround. Also replace the whole pthread check with an improved macro originally written for XCB, this way it's not going to try linking the fake -lpthread on Darwin, and it also does not force a -I/usr/local/include on FreeBSD. The new macro respects the same variables set by ports, so that it's even more transparent to FreeBSD users.

(through backports), to avoid exporting unneeded internal symbols, making plugins' loading faster and use of internal copies of libraries more solid. It should automatically fall back to the old way in GCCs that does not support -fvisibility=hidden, but has to be tested carefully. No issues were found in the months of testing in Gentoo, but this requires special attention anyway.

- rint, lrint, M_PI (ffmpeg and goom)
- avoid mkdir warnings
- check for older _GUID_DEFINED too
- ressurected generating inttypes, cleaned public os_types.h
- moved function redefiniton used only in the old MSVC to central place
Windows port update:
- build internal ffmpeg:
- workaround 'near' keyword problem
- proper using __declspec(dllimport)
Other changes:
- LIBFFMPEG_CFLAGS --> LIBFFMPEG_CPPFLAGS

Windows ports fixes and improvements due to my current work on toxine:
- first experiments with external win32 pthreads,
more portable code (pthread_t may be a struct)
- headers refactored
- moved dirent win32 replacement to lib/, hide it for frontends,
used system version, if found, not used non-POSIX dirent->d_reclen
(this item doesn't work in MinGW), fix memleak in dvb
- separated settings for postproc and avcodec when using external ffmpeg
- check for malloc.h in public xine.m4, used it conditionally in xine headers
- replaced random() by POSIX more common rand()
- prevent one segfault in directx vo plugin, if fails
- M$VC port update

- upmix_mono: use default's port names ("audio in", "audio out").
i know that video post plugin like to name their ports differently, but
having standard names can make frontends' job easier when figuring out how
to wire plugins. i just won't change the existing plugins to not break
compatibility with frontends that might use them already...

samples in xine and casted them back to uint8_t* for the arithmetics

before, NULL could mean two things: no stream at all or a stream that does not
want to be addressed; now the latter is represented by the new XINE_ANON_STREAM
resulting changes:
* the status() functions now behave differently for NULL and XINE_ANON_STREAM
(as the commentary always implied, but this was not the case, so post
plugin rewiring went wrong, because it relies on the status() function)
* the NULL_STREAM defines in audio_out and video_out are obsolete
* update the function comments in the headers
* update the post plugin rewire functions to use the status() functions to
check, if the old port was opened and handle the new one accordingly;
this makes open_count obsolete
* change all post plugins accordingly (mostly using XINE_ANON_STREAM instead
of NULL)
additional change:
* the status() function of audio port now returns the bits/rate/mode values
of the input and not the output; this is more likely to be what a post plugin
wants
* the reimplementation of status() in the upmix plugin is obsolete

Some updates so that upmixing 8,16,24 and floats works.
The output of the upmixer is currently 32bit floats, so it currently only works with alsa.
New audio plugins could be added to change it back to 16bit before reaching audio out so that it works with OSS etc.
We just need Frontend GUIs to catch up and support AUDIO_FILTER post plugins.
