2012-06-08Fix utilization of _POSIX_THREAD_PRIORITY_SCHEDULING macroBrad Smith
A POSIX compliant OS can have a setting of (-1) instead of say 200112L to indicate that the OS does not implement the feature. The code as it is would still attempt to utilize the functions if (-1) were being set and fail to build.

2011-08-22Video deadlock fixTorsten Jager
When watching TV with Kaffeine I frequently had complete engine lockups. Multiple mutexes were waiting on each other. net_buf_ctrl requires the demuxer to keep running while playback is still paused. The diff might look a bit confusing. Basically, all I did was to replace phtread_mutex_lock (); ... pthread_mutex_unlock (); with if (pthread_mutex_trylock ()) { ... pthread_mutex_unlock (); } at a place where it does the least damage.
2011-08-22UI freeze fixTorsten Jager
xine_play () gets suspended after start or seek until first frame gets displayed. This often wont work on slow machines when first frame gets dropped because its too old. Consequently, UI freezes for full 10 seconds. Let's wake up xine_play when this happens as well. OK, this is a luxury convenience fix ;-)
2011-03-29Continuous video frame grabbing feature.Andreas Auras
In opposite to the 'xine_get_current_frame' based snapshot function this grabbing feature allow continuous grabbing of last or next displayed video frame. Grabbed video frames are returned in simple three byte RGB format. Depending on the capabilities of the used video output driver video image data is taken as close as possible at the end of the video processing chain. Thus a returned video image could contain the blended OSD data, is deinterlaced, cropped and scaled and video properties like hue, sat could be applied. With this patch such a decent grabbing feature is implemented for vdpau video out driver. If a video output driver does not have a decent grabbing implementation then there is a generic fallback feature that grabs the video frame as they are taken from the video display queue (like the xine_get_current_frame' function). In this case color correct conversation to a RGB image incorporating source cropping and scaling to the requested grab size is also supported. A more detailed description can be found in file "xine.h".
2011-03-27Fix race condition when accessing last_frame via get_last_frame()Reinhard Nißl
_x_get_current_frame_data() called get_last_frame() and locked the returned frame afterwards. At the same time, video_out_loop() unlocked last_frame to assign a different img afterwards. So in case the image got unlocked before it gets locked again, the image resides already on the free image queue. So when the image gets unlocked, it will be put a second time to the queue and hence cause a loop in the list the queue is based on. Getting an image from the queue will then run endlessly. To fix this issue, a new mutex is introduced which protects write access to last_frame and read accesses via get_last_frame() from other threads. Next, the semantic of get_last_frame() had to be changed to return a locked image already. Finally, functions calling get_last_frame() had to be adapted to its new behavior (there was only a single function in xine-lib which had to be adapted: _x_get_current_frame_data()).

2011-01-30Correct implementation of vo_trigger_drawing().Reinhard Nißl
Drawing can only be triggered when a backup image exists. Otherwise it's useless. Therefore, honor it only when a backup frame exists. --HG-- extra : rebase_source : bffa00a9d9ed4e8994185655d20ba2b3fc9ad818
2011-01-22Provide _x_query_buffers() to allow analyzing buffer usage by pluginsReinhard Nißl
This function is similar to _x_query_buffer_usage() but retrieves also the total and available (= free) number of buffers besides the number of buffers ready for processing. For example if one wants to create a buffering algorithm based on the number of frames ready, it's not that easy to determine the maximum number of ready frames possible. In case one configures engine.buffers.video_num_frames:50 it may happen, that only 30 frames can actually be provided by the video out driver. Next a video codec like H.264 may hold several frames in its display picture buffer so that you may end up with only 13 ready frames at maximum. At the same time, the number of available (= free) frames will be 0 (or almost zero in case of vo). So it may be even easier to base the buffer algorithm on the number of free buffers. The reported numbers may also reveal that too few input buffers have been provided to compensate a large a/v offset at input stage. --HG-- extra : rebase_source : 255cb186891fbab5199a99031cf1b1e93ac19923
2011-01-21Disable decoder flush from video out to avoid decoding errors.Reinhard Nißl
Video out flushes the decoder when it runs out of images for displaying, because the decoder hasn't delivered new frames for quite a while. But flushing the decoder causes decoding errors for images after the flush. It is likely that the flush is still required for the issues it was introduced (DVD still images), but they may have been resolved differently meanwhile (e. g. by supporting sequence end code). So for now a configureable option has been introduced which keeps the current behaviour by default. --HG-- extra : transplant_source : %AB%B3u%1F%E7%3D%10%0C%3D%40%B2%B0%CB%8E%84%FE%E6%87p%AA

2008-05-07xine_xmalloc() deprecation: replace its use with static and non-zero size.Diego 'Flameeyes' Pettenò
The xine_xmalloc() function is going to be deprecated, as its behaviour is rarely needed as such, and it's thus misused. With this, almost all uses of xine_xmalloc() with static size (for instance the value returned by sizeof()) or with a size that is guaranteed not to be zero (like strlen()+1) are replaced with calls to either calloc(1, ...) or malloc(). malloc() is used whenever the allocated memory is going to be immediately overwritten, while calloc() is used in every other case, as it sets the whole memory area to zero. --HG-- extra : transplant_source : %8F%98%EC%02%1E%83%F0s%06X%83C%205Y%80%B12%CC%E1

2007-04-16Merge fix from other xine-lib extension.Reinhard Nißl
2007-04-16FIX: Make sleeps in video out loops interruptable for immediate OSDReinhard Nißl
redrawing. While splitting my original big patch set, I've lost three lines. This change will make xine-lib compile again.
2007-04-15Avoid immediate frame drops by giving decoder a further chance toReinhard Nißl
supply decoded frames. There can still be scheduling delays which may let the number of frames ready for displaying to drop below frame drop limit just for a short period of time. Therefore the changes remember that the decoder should have been asked to drop some frames but do not actually have the decoder to drop some frames. When the situation has improved at the next time when the check is performed, the remembered frame drop is canceled or otherwise (when the number of frames is still below frame drop limit) executed.
2007-04-15Choose maximum for frame drop limit depending on the number ofReinhard Nißl
allocated frames. The current code uses a hard coded frame drop limit of 3 and doesn't adhere to it's documentation when testing whether frames shall be dropped. As a result frame drop limit is actually 4, which means that the decoder is asked to drop some frames when the number of frames waiting for displaying is less then 4. Consider a video out device like xxmc which only supplies 8 frames. For MPEG2 decoding, two frames will be used by the decoder (for the current frame and the forward reference frame) and two further frames will be used in the video out loop (the current and the previous frame) so that at any given time (under perfect conditions) there will be 4 frames waiting to be displayed. But when there are delays in scheduling, it might happen that there are only 3 frames ready for displaying and thus will result in asking the decoder to drop frames. The changes therefore determine the maximum frame drop limit in dependence of the number of allocated frames and make the detection work like documented. In the above scenario, the maximum number actually used for frame drop limit will then be 2 which allows to compensate some scheduling delays without causing the decoder to drop frames.
2007-04-15Avoid skipping an unsuitable frame when there are only few buffersReinhard Nißl
available. Usually it's a good idea to avoid reallocating frames especially when a deinterlacer needs a different format than the decoder, as this would then happen all the time. But when there is only a limited number of frames available, then even a single frame which is not scheduled at frame allocation may let the number of frames ready for displaying drop below frame drop limit and thus resulting in unnecessary frame drops.
