Description
Hi,
I tried to get the current release (taken from GIT) to work with VDR 1.7.14 but it doesn't work.
The log is full of:
Mar 28 09:05:43 [vdr] [11304] ERROR: TS packet not accepted in Transfer Mode
Mar 28 09:05:43 [vdr] [11304] [cDxr3PesFrame]: no start indicator found...
OSD works.
I'm using a single TechnoTrend DVB-S Full-Featured card (broken TV-out) as input.
Best regards,
Andreas

Could you try out the buffer-and-sync-rewrite branch? I know it has some problems and I will fix them, but it is quite
interesting for me, if you get a picture or not.

By using that branch I get a picture, but it's not running very stable. If I switch the channels (~ 5-10 times) I soon get a disturbed picture.
I also tried the patch found at http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/forum.php?thread_name=4BA4CF95.7000302@ventoso.org&forum_name=dxr3plugin-users and it worked perfectly and almost stable.

Could you please try buffer-and-sync-rewrite branch again? Problems with channel switching should be fix now, but I need lot feedback.

I now don't get any audio at all. The log is full of[dxr3-device] ac3 is not supported
messages.

At the moment AC3 is not supported in my branch, but tomorrow I want to do a little hack-session.
Can you test normal stereo/mono audio? This can be changed in audio selection - I think blue key.
Hope to get my branch ready as soon as possible.

I did test the buffer-and-sync-rewrite branch on a Ubuntu Lucid (amd64) base, together with VDR from yaVDR 1.7.14 testing repository. I made it run with analog stereo and I do have video, but still some issues:
- VDR is connected to a 4:3 CRT, even the settings are right, it does not do show 16:9 in the letterbox
- Sound is asynchronous very often
- Stations with low video rate does cause problems, like stucking sound and picture, up to scrambled video
- TS recordings could be played form the streamdev-server, but do cause problems like stucking sound and video
- It is not clear wether to use OSS sound or not, em8300 drivers do say no, plugin does say yes
If interessted, here you can see more information (german language):

Thanks very much testing... I am very happy about every feedback I get.
The first point (letterbox) should work now. Current way I do the sync is hardcoded, but I am working on it.
Can you tell me, which channel causes problems?
Updated by fnu over 14 years ago
Yep, the usual suspects, the music channels, e.g. MTV, Viva, GoTV etc. and Central Comedy/Nick.

Did test your latest snapshot of buffer-and-sync-rewrite branch, an important step forward. 16:9 in 4:3 letterbox does work now, video seems to be stable even on the channels with low video rate (B-channels: Kabel1, tele5, Nick/Comedy, MTV, Viva, GoTV etc.), let's say even after 1h testing.
Asynchronous sound is still an issue, but far better than before. On the above mentioned B-channels, sound is badly stucking, it sounds like you have receiving issues with a satellite dish in case of e.g. thunderstorms, snow flurries or heavy rain.
Test- and developement box is connect as streamdev-client and I see this message steady in the syslog:
===
Apr 23 15:39:30 vdr4 vdr: [2150] [dxr3-audio-oss] writing audio failed
===

Update, the DXR3 box has been used and therefor tested for some more days. Video on B-channels is as mentioned above more stable, but will still scramble after a while (1-2h). If this happens I do find well known errors from years ago syslog, something like: "em8300 Fifo still full".
Switching channels is "a bit soft" and "a bit slower" than I do remember from earlier releases.
