VDR Series Record Plugin

As I understand it, YouView is a way to seamlessly combine DVB and IP content onto a single device with a single EPG. At present that means combining Freeview with catch-up services such as BBC iPlayer.

It would be great to have an open-source solution to do the same thing, and perhaps VDR would be a good starting point. However at present there does not seem to be the necessary information publicly available. While YouView have published a technical specification it does not describe for example how a 'series link' can be correlated between DVB and IP. Meanwhile there have been announcements about 'backward-looking EPG' being added to Freeview but again no technical details.

In short, the plugin works with Freeview which is the DVB part of YouView, but the catch-up part might be possible one day if more information were available.
