Feature #1073
opensofthddevice with two soundcards - ac3 passthrough on one sound card and ac3 decode on another

Description
Hi,
This feature will highly increase WAF in my living room ;)
So like I've state in the subject I need ac3 sound to be processed on two sound cards simultaneously. One sound card (on gt520) which will transfer decoded ac3 in stereo through HDMI on my TV (with audio normalizing and audio compression), and second sound card (onboard from motherboard) will pass-through full untouched ac3 sound on my receiver.
Also, will be nice if MPEG audio streams are processed simultaneously when ac3 sound is not available on current channel.
I've found this in FAQ, but this is not the right solution for AC3 pass-through, only stereo, or maybe is?? (I don't understand German)
Thanks in advance,
abuser

This is no new idea.
It would be nice, when the Plugin supports two independend Audio Devices,
because Alsa has problems to use multiple outputs.
- Sync video to which card
- Handle audio drift of the cards
- Dropouts/underruns on one card
- Audio modules uses global variables
- Thread supports only one device
Use this as workaround: http://www.6by9.net/b/2011/12/07/output-to-multiple-audio-cards-with-alsa
